Thinking of Joining?

We welcome all new members, regardless of age, fitness or gender- young or old, fit or otherwise, we’ll be pleased to see you.

Membership is currently £45 a year, and a one off payment of £4.00 each week should you row once or five times within that week.  This is not payable if you do not row.
Our membership fee also gives you entry to the Colne Yacht Club and use of their facilities; also we do greatly appreciate any help you may be able to give (financial or practical) to keep the subscription as low as possible.

The gigs are kept in Brightlingsea’s Park and Ride facility on the Shipyard Estate, Copperas Road. We meet up there before any rowing activity- please look at the current calendar on the Events page for details of times and dates.

Come and Try and Taster Sessions
If you would like to come along and see if you like rowing; Club Sessions are the best opportunity for a go but we also hold a come and try session on selected Wednesday evenings and Sundays throughout the summer, feel free to join us with no obligation, please send us an email if you intend to attend chairmanbcrc@outlook.com.

We run Taster Sessions at Town events on the water, such as the Brightlingsea Regatta - just turn up at the jetty on the Town Hard and there will be someone from the Club to help you

Come and Try sessions are a 30 minute row and you will help prepare the boat and take it down to the water. Taster sessions are 15 minutes to allow as many people to row as possible.

You will see from a look at the events calendar that we plan a variety of sessions, ranging from short practice times to exploring the surrounding creeks. Members vary from people who just enjoy being out on the water to keener rowers who want to improve their technique, and those who like to stay in front of any other boat!

There’s something for everyone though- just choose what you find you prefer.

We encourage more experienced members to form crews; rowing with a regular group of like-minded people is very rewarding, and crews may use the boats at any time (outside of club sessions) to suit themselves.

Crews don’t have to be racers, you may have a group which just like to explore when the tide suits, or go on short outings at convenient times.

Social members are also very welcome.

We organise frequent fund-raising dinners, outings and barbecues, and non-rowers are much appreciated at races to support our competitors.
